It feels great to have done this page since I really need help myself. My stomach has quite often been an absolute disaster for the last six months or a little longer.. But it's much better now (March 9 2019). Much of my problems (stomach pain, cramps) disappeared when I stopped using salt. My tip: eliminate salt totally from your diet a few days and feel the difference. Don't eat too much salt. It's not healthy. Eat moderate amounts of salt, with iodine. More about salt health hazards at the bottom of this page.
Bad dietary habits, stress, harmful additives in food, medicines with harmful side effects, stress, etc. make us sick. With the right information and motivation, you can change your situation for the better.
After I followed advice on this page for three days, I feel much better. I began to eat lactose-free yogurt, a little tempeh and lactic acid cabbage, drank peppermint tea. It really made a difference for me. I feel much better in my stomach now.
Tempeh, ie fermented soybeans really feels like a good help for the stomach. Try it.

FODMAP diet guide
The FODMAP diet guide for you with ibs. FODMAPs stands for: Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols. These are short chain carbohydrates and sugar alcohols found in food. They can cause ibs, intestinal problems.
Foods that are low in FODMAPs are best for ibs. A low FODMAP-diet is what you shall eat. If you eat too many low-fodmap foods at the same time it will no longer be low, ie a low intake of fodmap.

According to FODMAP-guides beans, lentils that are canned or in tetrapack are better for the stomach than home cooked.
Beans and lentils contain very much resistant starch that is good for the stomach and therefore I definitely think you should eat them and I think you should cook them at home.
Tip: Soak the beans/lentils/grains for 10 or 15 hours, change water before boiling. If you cook beans, chickpeas then pour off the water after ten minutes of boiling and then take new water. Wipe off the white foam in the pan.
Use a big spoon and remove the white foam that occurs during the first ten minutes of cooking. Do you have ibs? Don't put salt in the water. Try to only use a little salt when you eat if you need salt. Feel free to skip the salt and feel the difference. It feels good for the stomach :)
